    For the members who enjoyed the visit to 61 Fountainhill Rd. on
    Tuesday evening and for those who missed a superb evening,
    you may wish to know the garden is open to the public on the
    following dates all Sundays  20 May, 10 June, 17 June
    2 and 9 Sept. or by arrangement. Worth another visit.
    Another favourite is Dr. Neil's garden at Duddingston Rd
    which is open the weekend of 11/12Aug.  Enjoy

    NB   re OUR VISIT TO DAWYCK IN JUNE.
    The shop closes at 6pm but we are not intending to meet until 6.30pm . We leave the decision on whether you want to go earlier to visit the shop or not.
    Following the talk on Tuesday evening those who attended are looking forward to the visit. All members and their friends are welcome to attend. Please do come ; There will be a cost of approx. £4.50 which includes our normal monthly sub. of £1.50. As Dawyck is an RGB Garden, members of RGB will be free.

    New members welcome or come as a visitor to enjoy the company of others.

    Members of the Gardening Club offer their congratulations to the SOS Committee in their successful bid to have Millbuies listed. The following announcement has been posted on their new website.

    ON THE 1ST OF MARCH 2012 HISTORIC SCOTLAND GRANTED MILLBUIES HOUSE, DOVECOT AND COMPOST SHELTER  CATEGORY B STATUS IN THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS’ LIST OF BUILDINGS OF SPECIAL ARCHITECTURAL OR HISTORIC INTEREST.
    THIS IS VERY EXICITING NEWS AND IS A BOOST TO OUR CAMPAIGN.

    On the  Sunday 15thApril 2012 at Suntrap there will be a Celebration Ceilidh at  7.00 – 10.00pm. It will be held in the potting shed.  The entry fee to the Ceilidh per person will be £5.oo. A buffet with tea/coffee or a glass of wine will be available for a donation. We are celebrating the wonderful news that Millbuies House has been granted Grade ‘B’ listing from Historic Scotland. This is a boost to our Campaign to save the Garden! Come along and help us celebrate. At 6.oopm there will be invited guests giving short speeches, these will include one or two of the MPs and Councillors who have been staunch supporters of our fight.

    Sunday 27th May 2012, heralding Summer, we will be hosting our Annual Open Day 10.30am – 4.30pm. Please come along to enjoy a walk round the Garden and appreciate the work of the stalwart Volunteers who have looked after the Garden throughout the stormy Winter. Have a rest and a cup of tea,  then visit the Potting Shed where plants will be available for sale.

    Your Committee wishes all members a  very good 2012
    IMPORTANT;   APRIL DATE NOW 24
     
    We have started to compile a programme for this season
      and hope that you will come to as many  meetings as possible                                                Remember it is your club.
     
    Our evening of 20th March will be a talk/slide show about
     Dawyck Garden, Peebles and this should  give you an  appetite     to visit the garden on the evening of 19th  June;  friends will
    be welcome NOT ONLY to this evening, but to any meeting.
     
    There is no news about the Suntrap Garden we are still not
    sure what the NTS and Oatridge are going to do,  VOLUNTEERS
     are still working on a Tuesday and Friday to keep the garden
     tidy, and with spring coming along, there will be more to do, can you come for a full day or part of a day                       (don’t leave it to the few)
     
    Those who attended the Christmas meal at Ratho Park
    have suggested that we go there again this year.
     
    The special committee is hoping to start classes
    and once I know the topics etc, I will let you know

    December 13th 2011

    In spite of the gales affecting a large part of the local area 12 members managed to struggle to the Ratho Park Restaurant where they enjoyed a lovely meal and a chat.
    Members are reminded that there is no meeting in January but the Secretary would advise members that the next meeting is on 21st February 2012. Details of the 2012 Programme will be made available ASAP. If you are considering becoming a member the 2011 Programme is printed below, and also on the Programme 2012 page, to give you a flavour of what we offer.
       

    NOVEMBER  NEWSLETTER
     
    FOLLOWING  THE  EXTRAORDINARY  MEETING  HELD
    ON TUESDAY 15TH NOVEMBER, 2011
     
    A good number of members attended the special meeting. After general discussion, questions and answers, it was voted by all,  that we continue as a club. If the Suntrap Garden ceases to be available as a venue, then we look for alternative accommodation,
                                                                                           we will continue.
     
    The next meeting to be held on Tuesday 13th December will not be at Suntrap, but will be a meal out at the Ratho Park Restaurant, opposite the entrance to Dalmahoy Hotel. The Bathgate  buses from Princess St. - 27 and 28 pass the door.
     
    The 2012 programme will be put together and a copy sent to you, the first date will be the 3rd Tuesday in February, and monthly thereafter, various ideas were put forward.
     
    Alex Lindsay, having served 7 years as Chairperson, retired,
    Dick Rudkin agreed to be elected, and was voted into post.   
    Jim Dickson, had intimated at the last AGM that he would require to be replaced, Kathy Stevenson agreed and was elected as Treasurer.    
    We thank both Alex and Jim for their service to the Club.
    Gordon agreed to continue as Secretary, there were no other nominations for these positions.
